This course is for new shotgun owners, hunters, or those considering a shotgun purchase. It covers basic firearm safety, New York State legal requirements, shotgun parts (nomenclature), loading/unloading procedures, safe handling, and includes an introductory live-fire session.

• Participants may bring their own shotgun (limited number available for the course at an additional fee, contact us for more info).

• Ammunition required:

  • 12 Gauge: 50 rounds #7 Birdshot, 50 rounds #4 or 00 Buckshot, 25 Slugs

  • 20 Gauge: 50 rounds #7 Birdshot, 50 rounds #4 or 00 Buckshot, 25 Slugs

• Ammo available on location contact us for more info

• Required gear: Eye (wraparound or side-shield), ear protection (earmuffs only), and a baseball cap. Limited quantities will be available on site.
