With over 32 years of experience in law enforcement, public safety, security operations, and professional training, James A. Murphy III is a seasoned law enforcement professional, certified instructor, and public safety leader serving Western New York and New York State.

​

As the founder and Director of Training for Criminal Justice Professionals Training and Consulting, LLC (CJPTC), James brings decades of operational experience, leadership, and specialized instruction to individuals, security professionals, law enforcement agencies, businesses, and community organizations.

Throughout his distinguished career, James has served in numerous leadership, investigative, and instructional positions, including Lieutenant Commander of Operational Services and Lieutenant with Canisius University Police, New York State Peace Officer Training Academy Director, Criminal Investigator with the New York State Department of Financial Services, and Director of Training for the Town of Wheatfield Constable Program. He currently serves with the Kaleida Health Department of Public Safety as a New York State Peace Officer, Security Officer, and instructor.

James has delivered instruction at more than 200 professional and community engagements, including police academy training, law enforcement programs, professional development seminars, and public safety presentations. His instructional experience includes serving as a guest instructor at the Erie County Central Police Services Training Academy and teaching in the Niagara County Community College Workforce Development Security Guard Program.

Beyond his law enforcement and instructional responsibilities, James has maintained a longstanding commitment to crime prevention, community education, and public safety advocacy.

He is a Lifetime Member of the Crime Prevention Association of Western New York, having served as President, Vice President, and Trustee. He is also a Lifetime Member of the New York State Crime Prevention Coalition, where he previously served as Western New York Regional Representative.

CJPTC specializes in New York State Security Guard Training, Pistol Permit and Firearms Training, Crime Prevention, Conflict De-Escalation, Professional Handcuffing, OC Defensive Spray, Use of Force, Emergency Preparedness, and CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
